DOERS OF THE WORD 

Lk 6: 46- 49, 8:20 -21. James 1:21-25


“My son, attend to my words: incline thine ears unto my sayings; let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart; for they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh, keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” 
                                                 Proverbs 4:20-23

When the world was void, empty of purpose, shapeless in destiny, what God applied to bring the needed transformation was His Word. “And God said…” Gen. 1:1-3  

When the world was enslaved in darkness sold out to a hopeless prison of condemnation and death by sin and Satan, God gave His word which came with the power, presence and promises of God. That word was Jesus the Christ and mankind was purchased back to God with a price. John 1:14, Luke 4:16 -19

To change the spiritual atmosphere and deliver God’s people from the bankruptcy of divine guidance and direction in the days of Eli and his sons. God began to speak again.

It is God’s desire for your life to be full of testimonies, success and to prosper in His blessing but this must be based upon His Word. Your prosperity in His Word is you progressing in the yielding of eternal fruits and values.

The story was told of a child of God who was diagnosed with a terminal disease and was given some weeks to live. But this beloved Christian chose rather to be healed and live a longer life, what he did was to get Christian books, taped messages on audio and visual Cds armed with the word of God he locked himself up and continued to feed his spirit man with God’s truth. By the time he came out of that exercise, the ailment had checked out his body back to hell where it came from, he became total healed and the doctors could not find any trace of that ailment ever being in him.

When God needed to crush the power of sickness the scripture says “… He sent forth His word and healed our infirmities…” Psalm 107:19-20   the word of God is a Divine channel for the change of story.

When Israel had dwelt too long in captivity God moved to break that bondage and change their story through the release of revelational truth from His word as recorded. That provoked a different spirit in Daniel and geared him towards the emancipation of Israel as seasoned in God’s programme.  “In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the lineage of Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, keep His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those…..Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God, for the holy mountain of my God, yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. And informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give skill to understand. At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision…”

Without the Word you become deformed of the needed might, divine acumen that tears earthly resistance to shred in your desperation to encounter God and gain a change of story.

God’s word keeps you informed with that information are revelational truth, divine armoury, bullets, high grade assaults against satanic hordes that wedge war to keep one ensnared and unable to enter into God’s promise of blessing for us. 

We are charged to be Word conscious! If you must be successful then you must make a desperate duty to put the Word of God in your life learn to be guided by the word of God.   “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only … for if any be hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass”    James 1:22-23. (See also Joshua 1:8)

HOW TO BECOME DOERS OF THE WORD

# Understanding the Personality of the Word of God
The Word functions like a person, in fact there is the Word incarnate. Like a man can hold unto something so the word of God has the ability to take hold of situations and handle them adequately “Where are your forefathers now? And the prophets, do they live forever? But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your forefathers?”                                               Zech. 1:5-6 NIV

John 1: 1, 14

It is that function of the Word that make the calling of the things that are not as though they were and they become.

#Make room for the Word.
“Luke 5:1-3” 
And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2. And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.”

If there is no room for God’s word in your life, then you become filled with something else, as a vessel we are not created to be empty. So what you are filled with becomes what will play out in you actions. Many who are empty of the word of God are not doers of the word but do what they have been filled with. Will you practice what you have no knowledge of?

#Practicing the word.
Apply the Word In your day to day activities. 
(… Nevertheless at Your Word I will let down the net. Luke5:5). For the miracle he expects Peter chose to put the word of the master to a test. He practiced the Word, not dwelling only on the meditation level, he acted out the word in faith. Becoming a doer of the word of God is not you waiting for a special anointing to compel you before you can do it. It is an action of faith carried out in the physical person. Start doing what God said in His word there is no special grace attached only be obedient.

# Avoid a life of following after traditions and embrace divine instruction.

Do not weigh divine instruction with the bankruptcy of human knowledge. Its limitation will keep you from walking in the miraculous realm of all possibilities.

Matthew: 14. 25. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

# Build a Word life

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”

To build a Word Life is to consciously fill your life with the Knowledge of God and His word. It is reverence for His word that is seen in the deep search for God and his will through studying, listening/ hearing, storing up and acting out His word by faith in our day to day activities. Allowing God’s word to be our inspiration. To be guided, instructed and firmly rooted/ planted in God and established in His will that is Building a Word Life.

Let me ask you how many preached messages on God’s word do you have stored up in your android phone? Make use of the modern conveniences of the cassette tape recorder; CD Players, and the never –ending stream of Christian teaching seminars and fellowships among others. Buy good Christian books, read them, build your own library. Listen to the Bible on tape. Discipline yourself on the reading, studying of the whole Bible once, twice or four times in a year.

In the car, at home in the office make use of your break time to upload divine truth from God’s word into your spirit man. It is what you meditate on that actually bear fruits in your life. Listen to messages on healing, revival, evangelism, integrity, holiness and sanctification, prosperity, giving, consecration, deliverance, power, presence and the anointing, the Gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit and on Hell, Heaven and the second coming of Jesus Christ. Why all this efforts, it is because of what Romans 10:17 and Hebrews 11:6 says “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God” “but without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

The Mystery of Increase by GIVING –OUT.





"Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.  2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. 3 If clouds are full of water, they pour rain upon the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there will it lie. 4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.  5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.  6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well."
Eccl 11:1-6 NIV
Giving is a mystery! Giving is an act of grace, it is an act of kindness and a ministry (2 Cor. 8:6 NLT). The Lord admonishes us to excel in the act of giving just as we excel in faith, in speech, in Knowledge, in love. 2 Cor 8:7. When you read this verse in The Living Bible Version (TLB). It sounds like it is admonishing one to lead in giving, to show example of one at the top in this ministry of giving. It is recorded thus. “You people there are leaders in so many ways-you have so much faith, so many good preachers, so much learning, so much enthusiasm, so much love for us. Now I want you to be leaders also in the spirit of cheerful giving.”  2 Cor 8:7TLB

From Ecclesiastes 9 – 11:6 Solomon spoke on our ignorance of the future and he closed his discussion with some practical advice about our activities in view of such ignorance. In verse 2, 5-6 it is recorded that “you do not know” “you cannot understand” However, he counseled that ignorance of the future should lead not to inactivity or despair, but to diligent labour. Because we do not know which of our ventures will succeed” This is indeed a mystery because we cannot really explain how the act of giving-out will cause increase and keeping back lead to poverty. Yet it does not call for our struggling to understand but as a people of faith to embrace this mystery of the kingdom for our increase by faith. Please understand that Circumstances are never going to be ideal in this life, but we must go ahead and obey God and trust Him for the results. If you wait for the right wind or the right day, you may miss your opportunity. You may seem to be a fool, like someone who casts bread on moving water, but God will see to it that it will come back to you.

To get a harvest, you employ the Mystery and principle of giving/ sowing to the soil (2 Cor. 9:9-11). In the scripture are records of the blessings that lies in the mystery of giving – out. Some of the areas we can give – out unto our increase are as follows.

1. Giving freewill offering. Luke 6: 38.
The story of the widow’s offering in Mark 12:41-44 reveals that contrary to what many think or say, even Jesus is interested in your giving. Not necessarily the quantity but the quality. Next time you put your hand into the offering bag, bowl or box, let it be that wrapped in your palm or packaged in your envelopes is not just your seed that looks as though you are helping God, the Church or the Pastor but it should be an expression of your worship. The symbol of deep love and your victory over the love of Mammon.
2. Charity, giving to the Poor of needy
It is seen as and actually it is a mystery, that when you give to the poor you lend to God. Proverbs 19:17. I cannot imagine what God will use to pay you back for lending to him. Let me help you out, the bible says it is a wonderful interest that you will receive. “When you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord-and He pays wonderful interest on your loan!” TLB

3. Parental giving: (Giving to your parents and giving to help/ establish family members). Unlocks this mystery and secures for you unspeakable blessings. "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Ex 20:12
Note that your welfare on earth is connected or tied to the regard rather honour you give your parents. And the longevity of your life is tied to that honour you accord your parents. You want a long and quality life honour your parents even with your resources, celebrate them. Abraham was equally blessed because he cared very much for his relatives. See Genesis 14:14, 18:1-5. So next time you are claiming Abraham’s blessings as yours. Remember this price of giving help/ establishing and celebrating your family members.

As a church this is God’s desire for us that we should be like the churches in Macedonia “Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, what God in his kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia. They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity. For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem. They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do.” 2 Cor 8:1-5

God admonishes us to give thus. “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor 9:6-7
When you find it difficult to give as you are expected to, then verse 8 says “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Don’t wait until you become a Dollar Billionaire before you start tapping into this key of open doors to blessing. Make a move in obedience to God and God “who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”  2 Cor 9:10-15

This weak I pray for you, receive the grace to enter into and practice the mystery of increase through giving. May God supply you seeds and may your heart be willing and obedient to sow them. As you give your freewill offerings, parental giving and lend to God may you reap abundance in Jesus name – Amen. Happy New week – Giving out and Increase. Shalom!

THE DEADLY EXCHANGE

THE DEADLY EXCHANGE
 “Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" (That is why he was also called Edom.) Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright." "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?" But Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.”   Gen 25:29-34 NIV

Exchange is the act of putting one thing or person in the place of another, it is the conscious and legal giving up of something in other to receive another thing that is more desired.
However you may define it the fact remains that exchange is an appeal to one’s choice. If it is a matter of choice then no man should claim to have been forced into an exchange because the only power of freedom anybody has is the freedom of Choice. How are you making use of yours?
            The world which we dwell in is a market of choices with many open windows of appealing offers bidding for an exchange. Men invariantly engage in exchange and most of these exchanges are expensive and deadly. Deadly exchanges have the characteristic of being exceedingly harmful, extremely poisonous or injurious, involving loss of divine grace. The Devil, the world and the flesh is offering us the opportunity to trade our eternity for pleasure, money, fame/ popularity and sin. Many who are spell bound and blinded by their carnal cravings and misplaced desires are surrendering their priceless soul in exchange for momentary gains.
Esau like many today in their profane nature saw nothing wrong in sacrificing a spiritual provision to satisfy his physical appetite. And Jacob who is a cheat cunningly overtook his brother and gained his birth right.  But he clearly demanded for Esau’s birth right and the Godless Esau did not hesitate to exchange it for a moment’s pleasure.  When Esau later lost his father’s blessing as the first born to Jacob he cried bitterly and could not get it back, he forget that it was bought with some bread and lentil stew. He sold his birth right for a momentary pleasure. Adam and eve equally fell into that trap of deadly Exchange when they sold their peaceful abode in the Garden of Eden and fellowship with God in righteousness for the pleasure of a bite from the forbidden apple, a disobedience to God.

“Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.” 1 Peter 5: 8 AMP

The most dreadful attack of the devil on mankind in an attempt to steal our eternal joy is not by fierce and open confrontation but a canny deception that appeals to our immediate wants in exchange for our eternal needs. The Lord has paid the price for our sin and purchased us with his death on the cross and the blood of the new covenant as an eternal sacrifice for our salvation. 1 Corinthians 6: 20 say “You are bought with a price…” You are valued to be priceless and should not involve in a deadly exchange. Accept Jesus today and be saved. Each time we sin against God we engage in a deadly trade exchange of this position for a lie, adultery/ fornication, theft, cheating, murder, envy and jealousy, gossip and slander, etc. Proverbs 23:23 admonishes us to Buy the Truth and not sell it. Who is the truth in John 14: 6 “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matt. 6:33.
You have the power to terminate that deadly exchange taking place in your life and family now, by accepting Jesus Christ today as your Lord and personal savior and say no to Satan, Sin and the Worldly pleasure.

SALVATION PRAYER
            Lord Jesus I am sorry for delaying till now, I confess that I am a sinner and am sorry, please forgive me my sins and cleanse me with your precious blood. I answer your call today and receive you into my life as my Lord and Personal Saviour. Please come and set me free from sin, death and hell: strengthen me with your Holy Spirit to serve you for the rest of my life. Thank you for saving me in Jesus name. Amen.

GOD BLESS YOU AND JESUS LOVES YOU

WINNING IDEAS “Doing business with God”




 

Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands." So, Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up — one on one side, one on the other — so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So, Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.”             Ex 17:9-13NIV

Moses, Joshua and the fighting people of Israel as revealed in the above text on their own does not have what it takes to stand against talk less of winning the Amalakites. Yet God’s servant Moses instructed Joshua to "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. What was his confidence? In the cause of the battle we saw how God stepped in with what I refer to as the winning idea. Moses and the children of Israel did business with God and won the battle.

The story behind great/winning ideas is often more complex and winding than having an apple fall on your head. But the best part is that creative ideas are not reserved for a special group of people; they can come to anyone even you. Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, says ideas are out there waiting to find the right person who can bring them to life. According to her “Ideas are these disembodied life forms, they don’t have a form, but they have a will. All they want is to be made manifest,” she told Robin Young on NPR’s Here and Now. “If you can manage to open up your consciousness to an idea of living in a world of abundance, then you can believe that, constantly, ideas are trying to find human collaborators.”

To Succeed in this year of a Brand – New Beginning we must be willing to do business with the Excellent God. The Holy Spirit is willing to let us in on Winning Ideas that will change our story as individual, the church, a Nation, family, career and business etc.

In Ecclesiastes 9:10-11 we were admonished “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.” Colossian 3:23-24 also says Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

we must take advantage of our time here on earth to work for His glory and to give it our all because it is only in this life that we can utilize our creativities. It is said that Ideas rules the world, and winning ideas ultimately comes from God. In Psalm 16:3-6 God has this to say about His children. As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight. The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips. Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”  Of course, we have a delightful inheritance but, we may never access them even when they rightfully are ours until we respect and harvest from the wealth of divinely inspired ideas.  

Winning ideas are wisdom from above. When all was set, King Solomon made the right choice when God confronted him with an opportunity to ask for anything he wanted. He could have asked for wealth or power, but Solomon asked for wisdom and a discerning mind and God honored that request. The result was 1 Kings 3:12 “Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you.” Since Solomon asked for something more valuable than riches, God promised to give him a long life (1 Kings 3:14) and “both riches and honor” (1 Kings 3:13a)

WINNING IDEAS: Doing Business with God
Doing business with God implies living out your faith in the work place, it is a life journey that teaches one to submit to God while serving and meeting the needs of others. It challenges us to revolutionize the way we think about our job, career and work in general learn how to find your best career fit, maximize your job, get promoted, be more creative, Christlike and successful at work.

Note that you will spend one – third of your life at work. Don’t you think God wants you to make the most of it? God wants you to work so you can express what he made you to be.
Those who do business with God
-          Carry the abilities of God with them
-          Enjoy the blessing of God
-          Enjoy the dominion of Divine presence
-          Don’t get trapped by season and terrain

Business is anything you do for a LIVING. It is answering the call to destiny.
   
Prov. 16:3-4 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for his own ends — even the wicked for a day of disaster.     
Eph. 3:20-21
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

FEAR OF GOD
There is something about during business with God, when it is done rightly if resultant effect is generational blessing and that is has to do with the fear of God.

Nothing secure the future of any man / business life the fear of God in the same way nothing about destiny like the bankruptcy of the fear of God. Nothing make people to build to last like the fear of God.

Adam & Samson – aborted both theirs and the destiny of their generation

Joseph Genesis 39:9, 42:18,
  Gen 39:9 “No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?"
Gen 42:18 “On the third day, Joseph said to them, "Do this and you will live, for I fear God:”
Joseph how long did he last 80 years of generational impact and relevance.
   
Gen 41:46 “Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh's presence and traveled throughout Egypt.”
Gen 50:26 “So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.”

JOB  
Job 1:1 “In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.”

How long did Job last in impact? 
Job 42:16-17 “After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.”

Daniel (a man of notorious integrity) Daniel 1:8, 6:10
   
Dan 1:8.  “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”     
Dan 6:10 “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”

Lasting in relevance Dan 1:21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

What does the fear of God do
   Prov. 10:27 “The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.”  
  Prov. 19:23 “The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.”

How does the fear of the Lord secure the future?

1.      It establishes a leading of protection / preservation around the people and their works Job

Ps 33:18-19 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

2.      It is the guarantee of God’s blessing. Job 1:10.
